I wanted to thank EVERYONE for their personal thoughts and prayers regarding Trent's surgery.

We had to be at Egleston at 6:00am Thursday morning. We were the first ones there at the Heart Center. We patiently waited until they opened the doors. Alyssa had spent the night with Brett's parents so they could take her school then come up afterwards.

They checked Trent in and got all of our information. He weighted 67 lbs and was 53 inches tall. He was excited about that because they means he is closer to being able to ride everything without height restrictions. And he had gained 7 lbs since March.

His nurses and most of the staff were extremely nice. The care team came in and talked to Trent about what he will see and do once they were inside the operating room. Trent didn't seem nervous at all. They told him that they wouldn't do anything to hurt him (needles etc) until he was asleep. He never asked any questions and just seemed to be taking in everything around him. The doctor, anesthesiologist and surgery nurse came in and consulted with us about everything. At 7:30 they took him back. Brett and I did extremely well during his long walk down to the operating room. He took his Indiana Jones figure and BUZZ and walked down the hall without us.

We were told to go and get something to eat the first 45 minutes of his surgery, because that was their prep time. So Mom, Dad, Brett and I went to the cafe. For some odd reason Brett loves Hospital food and was very excited to eat there. I must say it was extremely good and cheap. The four of us ate for $16. During our meal I noticed a familiar face sitting, eating her breakfast all alone. It was someone who I had graduated with, all I could remember was her first name, TRACEY. After thinking about it over the weekend I think her last name was Jones. Anyway~ I went up to her and she did remember me. Something drew me to go over and speak to her. Come to find out her son was diagnosed with a brain tumor, had had brain surgery, was in the ICU but hadn't fully woken up yet. It had been 2 weeks. (So please add her to your prayer list)

The nurses were very good about coming out and giving us an update every hour. Brett's parents, my parents and Brett's aunt and uncle stayed with us during that 5 hour ordeal. We had other visitors too that kept our minds occupied.

At about 12:45 the nurse came out and said that he was back in his room. Brett and I went back to comfort our "Big T". By his facial expressions we knew that he was in alot of pain. They gave him something, then wanted him to eat. I thought everything was going alittle fast but they ordered him his chicken and PAPA sat and fed him. He only ate a couple of bites of chicken, but all of his red grapes. He even wanted more. After his second dose of pain reliever he took a 45 minute nap. When he woke up he was a different person. STARVING. He didn't seem to be in any pain after that. And as of now has never asked for any other pain medicine. NOTHING. I am shocked because I thought he was more like is daddy. haha.

Grandmommy and Granddaddy gave him an Indiana Jones hat after the surgery. He was so cute. All of the nurses came back and took his picture. He thought that he was something else. We eventually got to leave alittle after 4pm. Isn't that amazing!!!! Poor thing. he had gone so well but only miles from the hospital he proceeded to "get sick" in the car. Luckily I had a gift bag in the back that he could use. Bless his heart. All he could say was, "I'm so sorry mama."

So as of right now he is completely back to normal. The doctor said that he should be back to all of his activities by Thursday. (including ball) Poor thing yesterday he had his bat and ball tossing it in his room.

He has a follow up in 4 weeks. But everything seems to be fixed and working properly.
