Motorcycles

For 9 months Brett, his brother Danny and cousin Keith have been working on motorcycles. They bought and restored each of them one and for Christmas they gave Brett's dad Ealy his.(the yellow one) It's a replica of Ealy's that he had back in the 1970's. Pretty neat huh?

This is Brett's bike.

Here is a great picture of all of them with their bikes. The bikes look awesome.

Merry Christmas

Thankfully both Trent and Alyssa only asked for one thing from Santa. All Trent wanted was a Wii and Alyssa wanted her own game system. This pictures look bare don't they? We didn't go all out this year like previous years. There is just no sense in it. They get so much anyway. A friend of mine and her husband came up with a wonderful way to celebrate Jesus's Birth. Her children only get three gifts from Santa because Baby Jesus only got three, one from each wise man. So that is what we did and it turned out wonderful! (Know don;t get me wrong, under the tree from Mommy and Daddy they got 7 things each. Wii games, books, dolls, doll clothes remotes etc.

This is a great picture of Trent finding some baseball cards in his stocking.

My sister and niece came over Christmas morning for breakfast and to play the Wii. Both my mom and Brett were sick Christmas. Poor Brett didn't even get out of bed until late Christmas night.

Christmas Eve

Tuesday night before Christmas we got together with Brett's immediate family. I never got a serious shot of the cousins this year so this silly shot will have to do.

Christmas Eve we went to Aunt Netta's for our Maloy Christmas. The guys enjoyed alittle football tossing. It was the preps against the nerds. You are looking at the preps.
Here are most of the cousins. These are 1st and 3rd cousins.
This is Brett and I with his 3rd couins (Becky and Jeff with Becky's husband Steven.)

Jeff (a Tech Graduate) gave the kids their own jerseys. Alyssa was so excited. She had been wearing Trent's old one that barely fit her. (You would think that she would like a cheer leading uniform, but no not Alyssa) She wouldn't take that thing off for days.

Every Christmas Eve the kids get to feed the reindeer their food.

We left Oreos and Milk this year. Christmas morning Trent was really, really upset that Santa didn't eat all of the cookies. (He had left two)

Santa Letter

Dear Santa,

I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money for the school. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.

If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like sharpie marker resistant cabinets, tables, doors and walls. A radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone. On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight or scream and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your sister," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog. If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature food.

If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my oldest child to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa.

Time with My Cousins

My youngest cousin..... (1st cousin) John with Alyssa and Ashley.

Here are my sisters with my dad's brother's kids. (1st cousins) I don't think we all have been in the same room in several years....

I have decided to start using my timer on my camera so I can actually be in the pictures. I just set the 10 second timer and run into place. That way years from now Trent and Alyssa wont think that their Mommy was never around. Here I was showing dad how it works.
Sarah Michelle and Me. (My name sake)

This is the ornament that we place on the tree to honor our love ones who are no longer with us. It is such a pretty one, I wanted to share.

Funny Story

Last night we were in Locust Grove and came across a road block. They were just checking licenses. Of course, Trent automatically thinks we did something wrong and gets nervous.
Anyway, we always listen in the 80's XM channel when Brett's in the car and last night was no different. We pulled up to the officer and Brett handled him his license. The officer began to laugh and said, "Man, this is old-school." At first we thought he was talking about Brett's picture on his license, then we realized that he was talking about Digital Underground's - The Humpty Dance playing on the radio. To explain I then said, "Good ole 80's on XM." I know most of you reading this know this song don't deny it. It was good back in the day. Good clean rap.
All right!Stop whatcha doin''cause I'm about to ruinthe image and the style that ya used to.
I look funnybut yo I'm makin' money see so yo world I hope you're ready for me.
Now gather round I'm the new fool in town and my sound's laid down by the Underground.
I drink up all the Hennessey ya got on ya shelf so just let me introduce myself
My name is Humpty, pronounced with a Umpty. Yo ladies, oh how I like to hump thee.
And all the rappers in the top ten--please allow me to bump thee. I'm steppin' tall, y'all, and just like Humpty Dumpty you're gonna fall when the stereos pump me.
I like to rhyme,
I like my beats funky,
I'm spunky.
I like my oatmeal lumpy.

Our Christmas Tree

Aunt Mog, here is your ornament. At school the kids could by one in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of someone. He bought 4. In honor of you and Sweet Abby and in memory of Papa and Granny.

Christmas Brunch

Ms. Boddie planned a Holiday Brunch for a Christmas Party. She asked that the students dress up. It was a test to use all of their manners that they had been learning about. Here is a great picture of Trent and his friend Austin.
I thought these pictures were great! Compare the sweet "girls" picture.... Then look below...
When I asked to boys to take a picture this is what I got.
The entire class.

You wouldn't believe the food. There were eggs, grits, donuts, fruit, biscuits, sausage, chicken nuggets, veggies, and tons of other stuff. The boys even pulled the girls chairs out and they all used their manners!

Alyssa's Checkup

Yesterday I took Taz for her 5 year old check up. Poor thing. At first she was so excited about it. She thought we were going to Scottish Rite and she could ride in the wagons. But no...... it was her pediatrician. Her appointment was with a new doctor at the practice. I figured I'd need try her. I regret that now. She just isn't Dr. Ahn. She was German with a heavy accent. I could barely understand her. She was very nice but she probably would have been better with patients that are older. The nurse was great! Alyssa kept waiting for her name to be called and the nurse knew that so when it was her time to go back she announced it good and loud "ALYSSA BARFIELD" Alyssa was very excited to hear her name be called. But of course she just had to correct her. She said, "It's Alyssa Michelle Barfield Taz." So the nurse sent her back out and annouced her the "right way." Little bit weight in at 49 pounds and 44 3/4 inches. Her stats were consistent with a 6 year old.

Poor thing got 5 shots.... And I mean 5 different needles. It took three of us to hold her down. But hopefully that will be it for a while. She is all set to start kindergarten. Whoo hoo.

Seriously people?? Who thought this was a good present? Whomever thought of this couldn't have had children themselves. This was one of the top recalled toys of this year. I wonder why!

Where's Alyssa

Alyssa loves stuffed animals. They all ended up on her bed. This picture reminds me of the scene in ET where he blends in with the animals in Elliott's closet.

So Thankful For Friends

I have always been blessed to have such great friends! I have been friends with most of them since elementary and high school. We got together on Saturday night. I had such a great time!

GOD knew that everyone needs
Companionship and cheer,
He knew that people need someone
Whose thoughts are always near.

He knew they need someone kind
To lend a helping hand.
Someone to gladly take the time
To care and understand.

GOD knew that we all need someone
To share each happy day,
To be a source of courage
When troubles come our way.

Someone to be true to us,
Whether near or far apart.
Someone whose love we'll always
Hold and treasure in our hearts.

That's Why GOD Gave Us Friends!
